Searching for Ron Britvich (part 3) (continued)
Roderick C. Moyes
RB: "I use technology to create, but I don't use technology."
RM: "Wait, you mean in your personal life, you don't use technology… how? I mean do you still use a twist can opener? To what extent do you mean"?
RB: (Laughing) "Yeah, I still use a twist can opener. There's very little need that I have for technology, but without it I couldn't create."
RM: "So in one sense, you're dependant on it, but in another you like to distance yourself from it?"
RB: "I love exploring new technology."
RM: "But you just don't have that desire to always be on the cutting edge?"
RB: "I think I actually do in certain areas. I want to have the fastest connection, and I want to have the fastest computer. I wish my computer was a million times faster and I wish my connection was a billion times faster…"
RM: "I think everybody wishes that."
RB: "I don't know, I mean it's been said for years… Why do they keep making computers faster? Well what are you going to do with them? I use them to explore and create some new things that I want to do. I want computers to be a trillion, trillion times faster than what the standard is… do I want that? Yes, but I don't need it… I don't need any of it"
DV: "I find it interesting that you say you could walk away from it… why would you want to do that, and how would you go about doing it?"
